Countryman is the fifty-third studio album by Willie Nelson. Ten years in the making since 1995, Nelson's first ever reggae album merges the gospel and spirit found in both country and reggae. It was released on CD format on August 2, 2005 by the Lost Highway label. Nelson made two videos for this album The Harder They Come and I'm a Worried Man both videos were filmed in Jamaica. bam 'as the world turns' bam, bam-bam-bam, 'the gods t t the gods'.

Before 'Witness' it was Daddy Skitz putting Roots Manuva on the map - at the same time as heralding the return of Rodney P, providing Skinnyman's first real anthem, and letting us know Dynamite MC wasn't just a D&B MC.

He also created the best UK hip hop 'posse cuts' with Fingerprints and Twilight of the Gods, that frankly haven't been bettered since. Fingerprints chilled out vibes earned it a place on Sunday Best's first compilation, and Twilight was always a head nodding hyper bomb at UK hip hop shows.

Where My Mind Is At, Dedication, Fingerprints, Twilight were already known on the underground - but the LP had a load of other great tracks, like 'Inner City Folk' fro example.

I think the strength of Skitz's music at the time was the combo of respected MCs from the underground scene, fused with dark epic production, which as well as pleasing the hip hop heads also crossed over to the listeners that where digging the Ninja Tunes styles popular around that time. The production was so strong most of the beats would have worked as instrumentals too as they were really dynamic and vibrant - hardcore but infectious.

As pretty much always in UKHH this is underrated AF. Hard beats provided by Skitz and a class line up of MC's. Classic hip hop album. A must listen for heads in the know.

It may be only three years old, but I think this has to be considered a classic of uk hiphop.

Skitz' production isn't flashy, but it's good where it matters. The subs are so fat and deep the dub influence is unmistakable, the beats are crisp and heavy, and the minimal loops give plenty of room for the large cast of guest vocalists to shine.

Standout track for me are undoubtedly "Cordless Mics at 20 Paces", where Phi-Life Cypher demonstrate their breathtakingly intricate lyricism and hi-speed delivery, and "Fingerprints of the Gods", where four rappers each deliver fantastic chats in brilliantly contrasting styles, interlinked by tony vegas with some astonishing turntablism. indeed, the scratching is another thing that shines on this LP throughout - it seems sadly rare these days to hear albums showcase this pillar of hiphop to this extent.
