Inventor of Evil is the ninth full length album from this German thrash metal trio. The advent of thrash metal materialized in North America and Germany in the 80's. When vocalistbassist Schmier was a kid, he noticed that the metal albumsof the late 70's and early 80's only contained one fast song. Since Destruction were one of the early pioneers of thrash metal, the bands who are similar to them are more like imitators. They can be compared to Goatwhore or Necronomicon. Released in 2005 - 23 years after the band's formation - Inventor of Evil won't go down in history as one of Destruction's essential discs but is still a good, solid addition to their catalog. The material on this 50-minute CD is pure, unadulterated, '80s-style thrash metal - fast, intense, heavy, and forceful, but not as harsh or unforgiving as a lot of the merciless death metal, grindcore, and metalcore that came out in the '90s and 2000s. You gotta love Kreator and Destruction making a comeback and getting into why they were good again and sticking to it finally and no more 90s meltdown like in too many bands back then...but...WTF Hell Awaits flashback on first track, they get away with it though cause of it being almost too identical an intro it makes it a Hommage instead (since it is slightly ironically made w/ backwards sounds) where The Haunted never did, too similar to Slayer to feel alright in my book, is just being the tail of the dog of Metal, kinda like the dreadful Ghost, we need Ghostbusters....but this CD is OK

But just like anything new with Metallica regretfully never will be a Master of Puppets again, this is never Eternal Devastation, those 2 albums are top ten albums anytime. But metal as said before somehow lost its way...and found its way back again 15 yrs later, almost at the same time for many bands. Kreator in 2001 and Destruction in 2000. Fueled by the Slipknots and the Lamb of Gods generation, bringing it all back to where it belongs. And many bands woke from their slumber of halfhearted metal to real music once again.
