Relationship of Command is the third studio album by American post-hardcore band At the Drive-In, released on September 12, 2000. The album combines an aggressive edge with a melodic drive, harmonious, emotive vocals, and surreal lyrics. While it continues in the alternative style of At the Drive-In's previous albums, Relationship of Command is seen as a more well-rounded album than its predecessors. Initially received positively by critics, the album is now seen not only as one of the most. Welcome to the breath-robbing, heart-pounding Relationship of Command, an album many have been waiting for with red-faced anticipation since their last EP, the brilliant Vaya. On this 11-track masterpiece, so full of adrenaline and swarming moods, ATDI has created one of the most infecting and mind-blowing rock albums in a long time. Do you think that At the Drive In's new album, Relationship of Command, matches the intensity of the band's live show George W. This focused high-energy rock with a punky edge. Hell, Iggy Pop sings backup for them on the song Rolodex Propaganda. The songs work together seamlessly, but the hits Quarantined and Sleepwalk Capsules really stand out. Ross Robinson produces this masterpiece from the band. Very rich in sound, everything from the gatefold and the pressing is excellent!

best. rock. album. ever. amazing pressing. if you where just to own one rock album in your collection - this should be it. most important rock album of the 00's. don't have comparisons to other pressing but can confirm that this one sounds dope. sleeve pressing is beautiful and everything is just the way it should be.
Iesha
Really solid pressing, sounds great. I kinda wish they hadn't broken it into 2 LPs, as you miss out on the great immediate transitions from One Armed Scissor to Sleepwalk Capsules and Quarantined to Cosmonaut by having to flip the vinyl at those points.. But aside from that, packaging is thick and high quality, and overall I'm very happy with this release.
monotronik
If you put more that 20 minutes on one side of vinyl you lose quality quite drastically. That's why most older albums from before the CD era were usually around 40 minutes.
Precious
MUCH better sounding than that crappy US pressing from the same year by Twenty First Chapter Records, which suffered from so much distortion even Iggy Pop -- who just so happens to be on this album -- was jealous.Do your research, kiddies. It will save you a lot of time and heartache in the long run!
Dangerous
I do not recommend paying big dollars for this tape. The tape itself is a cheap looking solid orange shell with no writing on it whatsoever. The J card is also very basic looking with printing on only one side. The sound quality is fairly average compared to many of the excellent sounding cassettes that I own from the 90's.Glad I didn't pay too much for my copy!
Dusar
yea the tape itself sounds good though. but it is plain/boring j card
Asher
Was pretty psyched to get this, but noticed way too much distortion in this pressing. It's almost unlistenable at times.

I am sorry to hear that, it must not be all copies - mine sounds quite good.

Can you describe "distortion" a little more. Is it sibilant or something? Also this: Trumpduck May 24, 2017MUCH better sounding than that crappy US pressing from the same year by Twenty First Chapter Records, which suffered from so much distortion even Iggy Pop -- who just so happens to be on this album -- was jealous.Do your research, kiddies. First record of my copy is dished. I didn't notice until long after I received it.
AfinaS
I just got my copy the other day, I am also noticing the distortion and am not happy about it.

I bought this on rsd 2013, waited in line forever and I was so thrilled to get this beast of post hardcore perfection that meant so much to me in my musical formitive years, only to discover my version has two (2) A/B sides!!!! Anybody else have this happen? Would love to have the C/D side as intended. Willing to trade if you have the opposite of my situation.
Fiarynara
I bought this a few years ago and have the exact same problem. Two A/B sides....
Binar
Just listening to this version for the first time - looks and sounds fantastic. However being put across 2 records does break up the flow a bit. On the CD/digital version I love how Sleepwalk Capsules and Cosmonaut EXPLODE immediately after their respective instrumental interludes, which unfortunately you don't get to appreciate on a 2LP format.
Erennge
I thought this exact thing when listening to this vinyl release. I love how Cosmonaut blasts into action. The effect is lost slightly when it happens immediately after flipping the disc. Still, great pressing.

I saw a sealed copy sitting at a nearby store today, just in amongst the A-section records ($25). Copies are still out there for the taking I guess...

While I was standing in line at a particular store on RSD, with my solitary copy of Relationship of Command, noticed more than 6 different people directly in front, clutching 4 or 5 copies each of this album - excited jerks who can't wait to rip off less fortunate fans. These characters are the scum-filled dark side of RSD.
Tenius
Record Store Day. This was one of the reissues that they used for RSD 2013 as a whole to hype up the day and drive sales.
Tegore
all grief and bad feelings aside. this is an excellent rerelease. it sounds crisp and brilliant. the color is neat and double vinyl is a little weird for a 45 minute record but is is nice and heavy and beautiful. easiest way to not get fucked by resellers with overpriced piece of shit prices is to GO TO A RECORD STORE. sorry for the capslock. but i just went to my local record store (where i also work sometimes by the way) and ordered two copies for the release. we got 10 copies for the store on record store day, i grabbed my two copies (for 25 euros each) and now live happily ever after. not anybody has the chance to go to a recordstore i get that. but don't whine about the prices if you just look in the wrong places (the internetzzz). you will just get punished for not getting social with other people in your community. you need a real life network of vinyl-lovers to get the stuff you want. go to a recordstore. enjoy your local vinylsource.
Rocky Basilisk
Yes, I totally agree with you and I already mentioned that I know that not anyone can go to a record store. But thats what RSD is all about, its not called "Cheap Available Represses Day", it is about meeting at a local spot to enjoy Vinyl, it is sad that this is excluding people from the experience but going to the recordstore is part of the deal. Luckily people aren't as dumb as before and they just don't buy overpriced RSD-items from the internet as much as before. Don't give your money to the bloodsuckers and wait for your day to come. I waited over 8 years to own Relationship Of Command on vinyl.
Maldarbaq
Cheers for the advice, but the nearest participating record store to me is about 80 miles away... Not all of us are fortunate enough to live near record stores, especially in this age of digital music. RSD releases should be limited to one of each release per person to prevent greedy fucks from taking advantage of people who genuinely love music.
Voodoolkree
As a former (now reformed) bloodsucker who took advantage RSD and other limited releases, let me say this. I did not give it up because of some epiphany where I questioned my whole morality system, I gave it up because it was not a smart, efficient, or reliable way to make money. If you look at the completed listings on eBay, there is a trend for almost every limited release like this. The ones who pay the most do so first, probably out of some panic and ill-conceived logic that tells them that if prices are this high, they must be nearly unavailable. It makes sense from a supply and demand standpoint, but most of the time supply (the number being sat on by scalpers) far exceeds demand. However, all of these gouged prices will continue to decrease week by week, until the scalpers are stressing over whether they can only lose $5 instead of the whole purchase. Within a month or so, all these Relationship of Command copies will be what they were priced originally in the store, with the scalper losing money on PayPal, eBay, and Discogs fees. The final and most profitable risk I took on this was with the My Bloody Valentine album, which netted me a free copy, $75 profit, and more hate mail than I had time to read. Now, the poor saps who followed my example are sitting on multiple copies, months later, charging almost half of their own purchase price. I decided to quit while I was ahead, and just in time. Now, for those yearning for some justice, multiple brick and mortar stores have been permanently banned from RSD for price gouging pre-orders on the internet. Essentially, I think that ultimately they make the releases less expensive (after a period of time) for the fans, but they do ruin the whole fun of RSD. But I see little difference between the individual scalpers and the RSD distributors, so the whimsy of the whole concept was lost on me early on. I decided long ago that I'm done with "limited reissues," no matter how many cool colors they get pressed on. I'll stick with the originals.
Wire
RSD release flippers are scum.
Gir
Was it really necessary for this record to be repressed on double vinyl?Isn't it 45 odd minutes long?
Fenrinos
It really was necessary, I have the original Grand Royal 1LP pressing and there's far too much music cut per side. The inner grooves of each side sound awful and are incredibly hard to track with any cartridge. This 2LP version sounds much, much superior.
Hanad
Anyone in Europe got one? Couldn't find one in Sweden to save my life.

Hey guys selling this on for £60+ in the marketplace. Go fuck yourselves.

whole rsd is one big weasel fest. Over priced records, small presses = good for the record company in fast income with huge margin and even better for the online flippers due to the small amounts available :( fucking shame really, at first rsd sounded like a good idea to bring people into independent record stores...oh and also, 10€ for a 7" jeeeeezzz....

I witnessed this today old men buying atdi, Sigur ros, blind melon, mad season, surfer blood, btbam, etc. and I know they aren't buying it for themselves. Me asking them so what's your favorite atdi song and they gave me a blank stare. I said haha busted! I told the Guy karma will bite him in the ass. then I see the same asshole with all his other friends at the next record store doing the same thing it's like fuck! Really! Share on record day buy only one copy and don't fucking sell it on Ebay at least not until you have a couple of kids and your wife looks at you and says honey we need some money. Then is the only time it's okay.
SING
LOL what do expect from a day created for the sole purpose of making "moar $$$$?"I love the whole idea of "local music store" and "independent" too, but creating releases just to capitalize on consumers and drive up revenue is the same reason you are mad at those "old men...asshole."So why you not mad at the record companies and stores/shops?

4,000 copies in the world and yet there are already 15 of you selling it for 4+ times the asking price on here. To all of you vermin buying RSD releases with the intention of flipping them for more money: You are huge cunts. And you are ruining the idea. How could any of you be a part of this community?

I was handing the guy my money this morning (all of it) and he told me it was already going for $90+ on ebay. I've thought about it, and this record is just too relevant to me and I wanted it so badly for so long that I'm just gonna open and play it, like it's meant to be.

Was anyone able to redeem the digital download code? The card includes a bit.ly address but the address doesn't seem to resolve.

I emailed the record company about the download link and they informed me that the link is case sensitive. If you're having trouble downloading the digital version, use this link instead: http://bit.ly/ATDIROC

Shame on you scumbags that bought this release today only to sell it for more.

Sadly it was a dead cert this would happen, same on ebay. My local store didn't even gat a look in on this release and it was the only one I actually wanted :( then again if people hold off buying then prices will drop
